As a Business Owner and self-employed woman, I know what it is like right now during this time of uncertainty and unrest. Finances have tightened, changes to how you run your business and market your business have had to be enforced and all these changes can lead you to feel more pressure and less in control of the day to day running of your business.
But now more than ever, it is crucial that you take the time out needed to look after yourself not only physically, but also mentally and spiritually.
I always tell my clients that in order to be there for others and to keep functioning positively, you need to fill yourself up first. The metaphor I use is - You need to fill your jug up first before you can pour water into everyone's glass. You cannot run on empty.
So what do you need to ensure you have in place right now to keep going and still remain effective in your business?
Here are a few tips:
1. Make sure you get regular exercise. If you can manage at least 30 minutes of exercise 3 days a week that's a great start. This will not only keep your body healthy but also keep your mind focused and exercise is always a great stress reliever. It doesn't have to be anything too extreme. It could involve walking, Yoga, Pilates, Running or even trying my online Nirvana Fitness classes, which are great for boosting the immune system. Contact me for more information on this.
2. Journaling. Often we keep a lot of emotions in our head, which creates an overload on the brain and is not good for productivity. Putting pen to paper is a great way to release all that pent up emotion and clear the mind, so you regain the focus you need to stay productive and efficient in your day to day work.
3. Meditation. This is so important. Just taking time out from taking any action and just being still and silent helps you to gain the clarity that you feel is right for you and ensures that each action you take is based on your unique perception and not just through following the crowd. As a Business Owner and Entrepreneur, it can be so easy to follow others and try and keep up with what everyone else is doing. This just adds to the pressure. You need to be your own boss and do things your way and the best way to make sure you tap into this effectively, is through meditation. This is where you silence everything else around you and just listen to that small voice within. (You can book in a Meditation session right here on this platform. See my profile for more details on how to book).
These are just a few tips to help you stay on top form during this outbreak. It isn't easy for anyone right now, but please remember, you are not alone. You don't have to struggle and keep it all in. And it's ok to take some time out and just stop and do nothing if it gets too much. It is better to stop for a bit, than transfer that negative energy to your business.
