Fiona Campbell is a licensed NLP Business Online Coaching Trainer, author, a registered and approved Growth Coach and Leadership Development Trainer for GrowthAccelerator. She has over 25 years’ sales and leadership experience, including working for Yellow Pages and Xerox Emirates, she has had the privilege of working with, modeling and learning from, many highly successful international business leaders. Let's get to know more about Fiona:

WikiExpert: So, you have been helping leaders and professionals for years. Tell us a little about this and how you have helped these people?

Fiona Campbell: I have been delivering my 7-Day NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Business Practitioner training, licensed by the Society of NLP since 2005. This training is specifically to equip business leaders with the tools and techniques to understand the behavior of the people they lead and have the skills to communicate clearly and listen to, understand, value and appreciate the people they lead.  I also deliver a range of leadership development courses aimed at helping leaders develop and grow the people they lead.

WikiExpert: What is the most common mistake that you see leaders make and how do you help them to solve this?

Fiona Campbell: Not understanding that everyone has their own perspective of a situation and we all take in information in different ways. I teach leaders that we all create our own perspective of the world based on how we filter information in our inside worlds. Our inside worlds are everything inside our skin, and no two people will see, hear, and experience any situation in the same way. The job of a leader is to understand this and ensure that they communicate information in ways that everyone gets a clear understanding of what is required.  If someone does not understand, then it is the leader’s job to change how they are passing on the information, For example, some people need to see something in the form of a picture, video or diagram, others will respond to spoken instructions and others need to see something demonstrated, then do it themselves before they grasp what is required.

WikiExpert: In your opinion, what qualities should a good leader have?

Fiona Campbell: 1. Listen carefully and pay attention to body posture and voice tone. Only 20% to 30% of communication is the spoken word, which means 70% to 80% of how someone is feeling about being asked to do something is being communicated non-verbally.

2. Be happy to admit you don’t know it all, and show people that you are always learning and encourage others to do the same.

3. Share your knowledge and encourage others to develop and grow by listening, understanding, appreciating and valuing each person as a wonderful human being with unlimited potential.

4. Wait until you are clear in your own head before asking people to do something. People become paralyzed when they are receiving mixed messages.

5. Support your team, delegate and encourage people to take responsibility for tasks and help them learn from mistakes.

WikiExpert: You also help business owners and entrepreneurs to achieve more sales, how do you do this?

Fiona Campbell: 1. You ever sell to people, people choose to buy from you.

2. Put your customer first, listen carefully to what problem you can solve for them, think from the customer’s perspective, not form than getting your sales target.

3. Build long term business relationships, not short term fixes for your benefit.  Be a professional consultant providing expertise about your product or services.

WikiExpert: Tell us a little about what your typical online business session looks like? What can Clients expect?

Fiona Campbell: For one to one online business coaching, I book an initial complimentary 30-minute discovery session for the Client to discuss what they are looking to achieve and for me to decide if I am the best person to work with this Client or not.

If I am not the best person I will either refer them to another Coach or sometimes they resolve what they want just by speaking with me.

If I am the best person to work with them we decide what program they want to book:

a. Set of six sessions either 1 x 60-minute session a week for six weeks, 2 x 60-minute session a month for 3 months.

b. Monthly contract of two x 90-minute sessions a month, plus email and phone support.

c. 3 x Hour initial session followed by 4 x 60-minute sessions

Once they decide on the plan I send a payment plan. When that is paid, they receive:

A Client questionnaire to be completed and returned before the first session.

A file with over 8 coaching templates including GROW and RAFT Models and Coaching Wheel.

The first coaching session focuses on the Client questionnaire, using the coaching wheel to identify the first areas to work on then completing at least one GROW Model with the action plan and steps and dates identified for what has to be achieved by the Client before the next session.

WikiExpert: How do you help business owners with improving their employee communication? And how do you advise business owners on getting their employees to be productive?

Fiona Campbell: I deliver Enhancing Communication workshops specifically designed to focus on the areas identified by the Client.

I advise business owners on getting their employees to be productive by helping them make clear and concise goals and objectives for team members based on the experience level of each member.

We often bring in the GROW Model because that breaks down specifically what has to be done by when. Also, make sure there is a support system in place for people to go to if they get stuck or lost in what is required.

Lead by example, make sure people have the skills to do what they are being asked to do, conduct regular development sessions to help people feel valued for what they do.

WikiExpert: In your opinion, what can cause a business to fail?

Fiona Campbell: They are realistic about what can be achieved, lack of planning, lack of understanding the time it takes to get established and not having the financial support to keep going until the company becomes established.

WikiExpert: What advice do you give to business owners to keep their businesses from failing and to ensure that it flourishes?

Fiona Campbell: Always think ahead - companies that don’t change go out of business - The most recent example of this in the UK is Thompson Holidays and Mothercare. Look at trends and be flexible, many successful companies know when to change direction. For example, training companies now are required to offer some on-line training to support their classroom training.

WikiExpert: What are the key factors to achieving success in business?

Fiona Campbell: Flexibility, life long learning, resilience and belief in yourself and your ability tome things happen, tenacity and the ability to keep going, maybe in a different direction to your original plans, but never give up.

WikiExpert: So, you encourage people to be the directors of their own lives? How do you help people to do this?

Fiona Campbell: 1. By helping people understand that we all create our own reality and can change how we feel about anything. If you believe you can’t do something you are right if you believe you can do something you are also right.

2. Focus on what you want to happen in your life rather than what you don’t want to happen

3. Have clear goals and create a plan of action to get there.

WikiExpert: What inspired you to become an Online Business Coach, trainer, and speaker?

Fiona Campbell: I, along with a lot of other people in business was bullied by managers who did not know how to get the best from people. It was not their fault as they had not received any interpersonal training on the best way to manage and lead others. In 1990 I decided to train as a Clinical Hypnotherapist to learn more about the way the mind works. This led to me training as an NLP Practitioner and coach. The next step was to design and deliver training courses b teach leaders about the importance of developing and growing the people they lead by listening to, understanding, valuing and appreciating them by using purposeful language, voice tone and body posture.

WikiExpert: What do you love the most about your career?

Fiona Campbell: Seeing the ‘lightbulb’ moments when people realize that they have control of what they can choose to achieve in their lives.

WikiExpert: What is the most rewarding part of your career?

Fiona Campbell: Helping people who feel stuck and without hope find their energy and drive to make positive changes in their lives.

WikiExpert: I see that you are an author on Amazon. Congratulations! Tell us a little about this and your eBooks?

Fiona Campbell: I have a series of Enhancing Communications eBooks on Amazon. I did get to the top only once when I was running an offer  - I will be re-editing these books this year as I want to refine what is out there.

Now, let's get to know more about Fiona:

WikiExpert: When you're not coaching, training, writing and speaking, where can we find you? What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Fiona Campbell: In the sauna or gym and I enjoy yoga, working with a personal trainer or having a massage. I believe it’s important to focus on ‘me’ time when you spend a lot of time training and coaching

WikiExpert: What has been your biggest success to date?

Fiona Campbell: I have many and am proud that I have built and international reputation as an expert in delivering NLP Business Practitioner, NLP Business Master Practitioner and NLP Business Coach trainer.  I enjoy taking complicated subjects such as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and making it simple and relevant for improving communication, motivation, employee engagement and productivity in business.

WikiExpert: If there was one thing you could change about the world, what would it be?

Fiona Campbell: For people to all live in harmony and respect and enjoy our unique and beautiful differences.

WikiExpert: If there was anything you could change about your life, what would it be?

Fiona Campbell: Nothing, I am in my 60’s and am only 'warming up'.
