About

I absolutely love teaching! The look of joy and amazement when a tutee understands something or makes a breakthrough in their understanding is priceless. Having been a qualified teacher for over 15 years, both in the UK and abroad, it is a privilege for me to be able to teach and, through online tutoring, being able to inspire children from across the world. Since the age of 18, I have loved to travel; taking part in many voluntary educational programmes, including living and working in Nepal, South Africa and South Sudan. Through this, I have continued to develop an interest in other cultures and I am currently learning both Mandarin and Spanish. My other two passions are music and photography, which I frequently incorporate into my tuition.

How I work

I believe that learning should be fun and enjoyable. Many of my students comment about how quickly their session is over and wish that it could continue! My aim is to fully engage my students, giving them ownership of their learning and, consequently, grow in confidence as well as resilience. For younger students, I use many visuals aids, including manipulation of equipment and diagrams to enable full understanding of mathematical concepts before moving onto more abstract recordings. With older students, I identify the key concepts that need to be understood in a topic and ensure students are confident with those concepts before moving them through their learning. With any learning, I ensure that I regularly review the concepts taught, so that they stay fresh in the student's mind.
