You would probably like to know what kind of counsellor I am and of course the best way to find out is to come for an initial consultation. However I would say that I am keen to help others and especially keen to be warm and friendly and try to help clients by putting them at ease - always ready with a question to fill those awkward silences (particularly in the early sessions) and, if appropriate, adding some humour. I am interested in your issues but also in your hobbies and other interests and have a keen eye for spotting things that you are already doing to help your situation. I aim to constantly update my toolkit and have attended workshops on a wide range of issues and continue to do so each year - always going the extra mile and doing more than the BACP recommended number of CPD hours.

As stated earlier I try to put you, the client, at ease and initially help you to come to greater awareness of why you are in a position in which you are looking for help. After this I often help you work through your issues by offering strategies for building new, more appropriate habits to help you achieve your goals.
