“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” – C.G. Jung

I’m astonished at the number of people living lives that are not congruent with their true self. They seek happiness through gaining material possessions, hoping it will fill a void in their empty lives. They seek approval from others as though their life must be given a stamp of approval. They keep up with the Joneses believing it will bring them happiness.

Being happy is conducive to living an authentic life. It is healthy to be happy, yet inauthentic to live according to other's expectations. We are inauthentic when we go against universal laws and truths. We honour ourselves when we lead rich, abundant and purposeful lives by resonating with our deepest being.

The heart knows all, for it has the answers you seek. Recall how time stood still the last time you were absorbed in an activity you enjoyed? There was no future and no past, just the present moment.

Discover moments in your life where you act from a place of love and joy to connect with your heart. This brings you back to love and raises your consciousness.

This is the source of authenticity.

Authentic people have positive energy, a vibration hard to ignore. They radiant brilliance, allowing others to be influenced by their presence. Inauthentic people drain your energy. I feel intuition telling me to flee when I am around such people. Notice these subtle cues emanating from within.

If you wish to lead an authentic life, tune in to intuition and guidance seeking expression and expansion in you. Free yourself from noise and clutter and turn inward. I’m not suggesting you become a Buddhist monk. I love being in the company of others, listening to music and many other activities which engage my senses.

I also thrive on reflective moments alone with a book, riding my bike, or meditating first thing in the morning. Start now. Begin your journey of authenticity and watch life unfold.

I am reminded of a quote by Andrew Cohen which resonates with me, “The authentic self is the best part of a human being. It’s the part of you that already cares, that is already passionate about evolution. When your authentic self miraculously awakens and becomes stronger than your ego, then you will truly begin to make a difference in this world. You will literally enter into a partnership with the creative principle.”
