What Do you look like with out your makeup?

What do you look like when you take off your makeup?

Women often dread the moment when they take off their makeup and show their bare face to someone else. We wonder, will this person still think that I am pretty? Or will my true face scare them a way? So, I am asking today, “What do you look like when you take your “mask” or makeup off?” Think about that for a second…is the person behind the mask “pretty?” I don’t mean pretty in the sense of subjective outer beauty, what I mean is, when it comes down to it, what does your inner being “look” like?

I think that our inner selves are beautiful and when cultivated, we can become generous and kind. We can forget about our egos and insecurities and become who we truly are. Sometimes there are obstacles, and we treat others as if they are their outer made up self as if that is all they are. I think it is sad that we value the image of outer beauty instead of inner beauty that takes time and courage to discover.

As Bob Dylan says, “You’ve got to serve somebody.” Who do you serve and why?

Do you serve yourself and your ego or do you serve others? I think that we are all somewhere in between. Sometimes we serve our ego and other times we serve others. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes we need to serve ourselves and other times we need to serve other people. We serve ourselves and our families by going to work and providing shelter, food, clothing and by helping members of our family to grow and learn in a nurturing environment.

On other occasions, we serve those outside of our families and selves because they need help. Do we decide to help them (because our basic needs are taken care of and because we can? On the other hand, do we help for selfish reasons? So that we can “look good?"

So again, I ask you, “What do you look like when your mask is off? Is your energy burning bright and shining the light that others might be attracted to or is it dim? Does it waver? Do you serve others some of the time or do you serve yourself? Do you shine radiantly and let your true self be out in the world or do you simply put on your mask and go about your business?
