As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rear its ugly head, remote work is becoming more of a desirable option.

After all, remote workplace environments aren’t subject to shutdowns. Also, you’re far safer from virus exposure when you can avoid the daily commute to an office packed with people and germs.

Clearly defining remote work.

If you’re performing remote work, it means you’re working outside of the confines of a traditional office.

While this might mean you work from home, you can really work anywhere that fits your professional needs.

Beyond work at home jobs, this manner of earning can be done through avenues such as online jobs. And you can work from a café, library, mall, airport, or – yes – from your comfortable home office.

The main principle of this concept Is that through options such as virtual jobs, work doesn’t need to be completed in one designated location. And in today’s climate with technology soaring high, it’s a notion that’s very much the truth.

Benefits of remote work.

We already discussed this topic briefly in the introductions. However, it’s worth reiterating that remote work adheres to social distancing. You’re far more protected from the virus, and you’d also be curbing how much it spreads.

However, remote work has been growing tremendously since well before this world-altering emergency. In fact, between 2005 to 2017, there was a 159% increase in remote work.

Why? Because it offers freedom, flexibility, and convenience.

Think about it—no workplace commute, meaning you can save on gas or on public transport.

Furthermore, this lack of commute gives you precious extra hours during the day. Lastly, you don’t have to deflect the many distractions that hinder you in a traditional office space. When you work remotely, it can just be you and your necessary devices – with no extra noise.

Adjusting to remote work

If for any reason (COVID-related or not), you’re seeking remote work, it comes with something of an adjustment period.

Finding remote work doesn’t happen at the snap of a finger. There’s a distinct protocol you must follow and a way in which you must network.

It might serve you well to examine if you require online career coaching to steer you on the right path.

Why? Because many Online Career Coaches understand the various nuances that go into finding remote jobs. They can help you figure out the finer points of video interviews, for instance. They can also guide you through the remote networking process.

We suggest striking while the iron is hot. With the way the world is changing, the job market will become increasingly more remote. Browse through our list of Online Career Coaches now and message them for free.
