They always change their mind about what they want

They’ll keep changing their goals and ideas. One day, they need you as a consultant. The next day, they want a website redesign -- even though you’re a content writer.

In the end, you’ll either have to let them figure out what they really need from you. Or, you could save yourself some time and tell them exactly what it is that you can do for them. Establish some boundaries!

They’ll try to squeeze every dollar out of you

This is a big one! A serious client knows what you’re worth and is willing to pay extra for your services.

On the other hand, a time-wasting client will try to lowball you. You have to remind them that in order to receive quality services, you have to pay competitive prices.

“There’s more work available”

Speaking of people who waste your time and cheap clients, “free trial” with the promise of “more work later” is a no-no.

You should avoid these people like the plague. They’re looking for a freebie. And as cruel as it sounds, you’re running a business, not a charity.

Clients who think they’re Experts in your field

Let’s be honest, even if they’re the CEO of a multimillion dollar company unless they’ve been coding for years or writing copy for major publications, chances are they don’t know what they’re talking about.

They’re the people who will ask for 100 revisions.

Remind them that you’re the expert. You don’t tell them how to run their business, they shouldn’t tell you how to run yours.
