Don't compare yourself to others
Each individual has their own unique style of parenting and every parent's journey is different. So, don't compare yourself to other parents and feel as though you're doing something wrong. Other parents might also have more than one child which gave them experience.
Sleep when you can
Having a baby will bring changes in your sleep patterns and also leave you with many sleepless nights. However, when your child sleeps, this is your opportunity to catch up on some rest even if it's during the day. Try to nap as much as you can.
Be kind to yourself
Don't judge yourself or put yourself down. Being a new parent is challenging and not just you but many others feel as though they're failing. This is not the case! Understand that you're trying your best.
Set aside "me" time
This might sound impossible as a new parent. However, you can set aside some time for yourself. Ask your partner, a friend or family member to help you so that you can relax and do what makes you happy. Whether it's going for a walk or meditating, take some time to yourself!

Understand that things will get easier
Yes! Believe it or not but with time, things will change and get easier. You'll get used to parenthood and your patterns will start settling. Your child won't be a baby forever and he will grow and become more independent over the years.

Don't panic over everything!
Whilst it's perfectly normal to panic and stress over everything as a new parent. You should try and control it. Babies do cry and things might get a little tough. If you're worried about something, then consult your doctor to put your mind at ease.
Embrace parenthood
Even if you're finding it difficult to get used to your new life, it will be better for you to embrace parenthood sooner rather than later. This will make it easier for you to breeze through the stages of your child's life and milestones. Take it one day at a time.
Take a break with the household chores
Lower your standards, there's only so much you can do and only so many hours in a day. Your household chores can wait. It is essential that you take care of your baby and yourself. Get things done slowly, there's no need to rush. If you can get some help with this, all the better!
Bond with your baby
This might come as a surprise to you but not every parent bonds with their baby the minute he is born and it might take time for some parents. As mentioned before, this stage won't last forever so cherish it. There might be not much you can do but spend time with your baby but you can do the following:
- Hold and cuddle your baby;
- Sing and talk to him - even though he doesn't understand;
- Have skin-to-skin contact. Lay your baby against your chest;
- Take him for a walk or some outside time;
- Massage your baby after bath time.
