It happens for all of us that our mind goes crazy. Thoughts after thoughts and no any useful conversation.

What we usually do in this situation?

Giving up and obeying our mind despite of knowing it is not true. Then, this response will become our habit and the next time when it happens again, we don't even think about the concept to process it wisely and will end up jumping into the wrong action again.

How can we eliminate this habit?

Simply by practicing to be a good listener and not jumping to any action. Imagine you are a father or mother of yourself and be patient enough to listen the whole conversation. Or you can be more vigilant and ask some good questions but Stay open to listen to those answers as well. Try not to judge yourself. Just witnessing the whole process.

When you practice the skill of listening, two amazing things will happen:

1- You see the true reality instead of your interpretation of the situation. Even those thoughts are your perspective of the incident but this time will be without judging yourself of having those thoughts. For instance, If you want to eat more but you know it does not benefit your body, before you judge yourself just listen to your mind when it is begging for more food. Then if you want, you can ask some simple questions like, you just ate your meal, do you want more? Do you feel your body still needs more? Are you still hungry? Can you wait until the next meal? and then again listen to all those answers that will come up. Try not to judge yourself in any of those steps.

2- The urge will go away soon. You will figure out that the overreacting causes by the urge not by the topic of the discussion. When your mind gets that you are always available to listen carefully then there will be no urge anymore. There is no need to react immediately just after the thought comes up. You can reassure yourself by reminding that "I have plenty of time to think about it and take good action ".

So practice being the best friend of yourself, Like a friend of yours comes over to your house to have a cup of tea and chit -chatting with you.
