Do you notice that it is hard to think sad memories when you are smiling? It is the same with speaking. Did you notice someone who is slouching, who’s back is drooping forward? What would you think about him? He must be lazy, sad or unconfident, right? But if you see somebody who’s shoulder is straighten up, what would you think? Imagine a soldier how he stand. He must be confident and with authority, right?
So, whenever you speak in public, stand up straight with your shoulder. In that way, you will look confident and with authority like a soldier.
TONE OF VOICE
When we speak while lying on the bed, we speak automatically directly from the diaphragm. Speaking from the diaphragm gives us the power to speak louder. Ask me why? It is because our inner body receives enough air and when we release it out by speaking, our voice is louder. When our voice is louder it has power. When you speak louder, your audience will think that you are confident.
To practice speaking from the diaphragm, it is advisable that you will have a proper breathing exercise before every speech. You may do 30 reps of breathing exercise. Start from inhaling deeply from the nose, and then release it with power through your mouth like blowing a balloon. One inhale and one exhale would be one rep.
This is what is amazing about the psychology of the athletes. When the experts studied why some athletes lose is because these athletes focus on what they can get instead of what they can give. It can be reputation or money. However, those winners focus on what they can give to their audience. It can be how they can inspire the youth or provide for their family’s financial needs.
A perfect example is the world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao. Everytime he has a fight, he dedicate it to his country. That is why whenever he wins, his fellow Filipinos feel that they also win.
